Supported by Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation
Named after a local ‘Love Hotel’, おとぼけビ~バ~ - Otoboke Beaver describe themselves as “Japanese girls ‘knock out or pound cake’ band”. Formed in 2009’s summer in
Kyoto, Japan, and consisting of Accorinrin (lead Vocal & Guitar), Yoyoyoshie (Guitar &Vocals), Hiro-chan (Bass &Vocals), Pop (Drums &Vocals).
They are as far as you can get from Idol or J.Pop acts as they explode a new wave of Feminist, deranged angular punk-rock-pop-garage at break-neck speed. Damnably and おとぼけビ~バ~ - Otoboke Beaver would like to thank the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation who have very kindly supported this debut UK Tour.

There’s something about the Kansai triangle (Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto – it’s Japan’s Midlands) that’s produced some great and very varied music and a great sense of unity though each city is radically different. Otoboke Beaver have emerged from one of those many provincial scenes, very influenced by western Riot Grrrl attitudes and the sounds of punk and angular post-rock. The band of mid 20’s talented musicians make easy work of the complex arrangements, reminiscent of inventive jazzy queercore punks ‘God Is My Co-Pilot ’ or Barry Hogan (ATP) favourites’ ‘Afrirampo’ who recently reformed. Pika☆ from Afrirampo actually gave Pop Otoboke some drum lessons and Emi Morimoto (X Shonen Knife drummer) who is now in a band with Oni Afrirampo wrote the Liner notes for Otoboke Beaver’s debut album (outside Japan) “Okoshiyasu!! Otoboke Beaver”-released on Damnably, March 11.
The band also release the new 3 track EP ‘Bakuro Book’ on April 6th
” When I first watched their show, I couldn’t help moving my body and was in the front row of the crowd at the live house in OSAKA. Their cute looks and crazy performance won my heart. People in the UK will certainly become their captive!!” Emi Morimoto (X Shonen Knife)
